This policy explains how Ask Chatter handles information when you visit askchatter.com, use our guided chats, or contact us.
How the chats work
Chatter is an automated, button-based guide. You are not messaging a live person. Your selections are kept in the current page’s memory to choose the next question and show a relevant offer category. The guide does not store your chat answers in a database, cookies, or browser storage, or include them in tracking requests. The offer link you choose identifies your project category. Reloading or leaving the page clears the conversation.
Depending on the chat, you may select information about home ownership, a home project, insurance needs, driving history, age range, household income range, or who needs coverage. Please do not send sensitive personal information by email unless it is necessary for your request.
Information used to run the website
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical request information such as your IP address, the page requested, browser details, and request time to deliver and protect the site. The website also loads fonts from Google, which receives the technical information needed to serve those font requests.
Cookies and tracking
We use RedTrack on the home improvement page, served through partners.askchatter.com, to measure visits, partner-link clicks, campaign performance, and conversions reported by partners. Tracking may process your IP address, browser and device information, referring page, URL campaign parameters, timestamps, and click identifiers. It may use cookies to connect a visit with a later referral or conversion. Our guide does not include your chat answers in tracking requests; the selected offer link identifies the project category. You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings, which may affect referral tracking.
We also use the Meta Pixel across the site to measure page visits and advertising performance, and support advertising audiences on Meta services such as Facebook and Instagram. Meta may receive page URLs, referring URLs, IP addresses, browser and device information, timestamps, and cookie or advertising identifiers, and may associate this activity with your Meta account. Our implementation sends a PageView event; it does not send chat answers, enable automatic chat-button event collection, or provide contact details for advanced matching. You can manage cookies in your browser and review your advertising preferences with Meta. See Meta’s Privacy Policy for its data practices.
Partner websites and affiliate links
We may earn a commission when you follow a partner link or take an action on a partner’s website. When available, affiliate links may include a referral identifier so a partner can attribute the referral to Ask Chatter. We do not append your chat answers to those links.
Once you leave Ask Chatter, the partner controls its own website, information collection, cookies, applications, and offers. Review its privacy policy before providing personal information. Its practices are not covered by this policy.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any information or attachments you choose to include. We use this information to respond, handle your request, and maintain necessary correspondence. Our email service provider processes those messages to deliver the service.
Sharing, retention, and security
We do not sell your chat answers or share them for targeted advertising. Meta receives the page-visit information described above for advertising measurement and related advertising purposes. Service providers, including RedTrack, may process technical information or correspondence to operate the website, measure referrals, and provide email services. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect rights, security, or prevent abuse.
We keep correspondence only as long as needed to address requests, maintain relevant business records, and meet legal obligations. Hosting, email, and tracking providers may retain technical records under their own policies and service settings. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices
You can stop a chat at any time and clear its answers by reloading or leaving the page. Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal information, or object to its use. Contact hello@askchatter.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We cannot retrieve a chat history that we do not store.
Children
Ask Chatter is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can address it.
Updates and contact
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date above shows the latest revision. For privacy questions, email hello@askchatter.com.
